Pennsylvania has an unusually wide range of wedding venues for one state: Main Line mansions, Lancaster County barns, Pocono mountain lodges, Pittsburgh riverfront lofts, Lake Erie waterfront spaces, and small historic inns tucked into the ridges of eastern PA. The average Pennsylvania wedding costs about $36,000, according to The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study, and the venue is usually the largest line item on a couple’s budget. Your decision about wedding venues in PA will come down to four things: your style, geography, your budget, and whether people can stay on site.
We wrote this guide from our own front porch. The South Mountain Inn is a historic Bed and Breakfast and wedding venue in Berks County, PA, so we’ll tell you where we fit and where we don’t. We would be happy to give you a tour so you can experience our beautiful property and hospitality firsthand.

What Types of Wedding Venues Are in Pennsylvania?
Most wedding venues in PA fall into one of seven styles, each with their own look, logistics, and fee structure. Before you start touring venues, it will help to narrow down which style, or styles, you envision for your ceremony and reception.
Barns and Farms are a classic choice, particularly for a Pennsylvania country wedding. Restored bank barns and working farms are especially common in Lancaster, Chester, and Berks counties. Many barn venues rent the space only, which gives you total freedom with caterers and décor but also means you’ll coordinate more vendors yourself.
Pennsylvania’s industrial fortunes built a remarkable number of grand homes, from the Main Line outside Philadelphia to the hills around Reading and Pittsburgh. These historic estates and mansions offer stunning architecture, but may have strict rules on timing and vendors, while others are more flexible.
The Poconos in the northeast and the Laurel Highlands in the southwest are the state’s two big mountain wedding regions. Mountain Resorts and Lodges often bundle catering, lodging, and activities into one package, which is convenient for large guest lists but comes with a higher price tag.
Southeastern Pennsylvania in particular is known for public gardens and estate grounds. They’re gorgeous from late spring through fall, but they usually require a rain plan and outside lodging for guests.
Pennsylvania wine country is larger than most people expect, and wineries and vineyards in the Lehigh Valley, Berks County, and Lancaster host weddings with vineyard backdrops and wine on hand. Most limit the bar to their own labels.
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Bethlehem, and Allentown all have city lofts, reclaimed industrial spaces, and hotel ballrooms that suit modern, urban celebrations. Expect higher prices in the big metros, but plenty of hotel options nearby.
Many couples overlook Bed and Breakfasts and Historic Inns. At an Inn, the ceremony, reception, and overnight rooms can all be on one property, creating a wedding weekend. The tradeoff is size: most inns suit small to midsize weddings, not 250 guests. If you’re searching for unique wedding venues in PA, a Historic Inn is a good place to start, since no two old houses are alike.

Wedding Venues in PA by Region
Pennsylvania is a large state. Driving from Philadelphia to Erie takes more than six hours, so the smartest way is to choose a region where you and most of your guests live. For most couples planning a wedding in the eastern half of the state, that means family and friends coming from Philadelphia and its suburbs, New Jersey, New York, and the Lehigh Valley. The regions below all sit within about two hours of that corridor.
Wedding Venues in Eastern PA
Philadelphia and Main Line wedding venues offer historic mansions, museums, hotel ballrooms, and industrial loft venues. They are a great fit if you want city energy and elegance, but they also have the highest average costs in the state.
Brandywine Valley and Chester County wedding venues offer gardens, horse farms, and estates with manicured grounds close to Philly and Delaware.
Lancaster County wedding venues offer an array of farms, barns, and country inns, perfect for those wanting a classic rustic look on pastoral farmland.
Lehigh Valley offers industrial spaces, vineyards, and country clubs for a mix of urban and rural venues.
Finally, Berks County, where you will find our wedding venue in PA, offers historic inns, estates, and wineries with mountain views. It’s a great fit if you want Philadelphia, Lancaster, and the Lehigh Valley within easy reach for guests.
The tradeoff across eastern PA mostly comes down to distance from the city versus price and space. Philadelphia’s average wedding runs about $40,000 in The Knot’s data, compared with $36,000 statewide, and moving an hour or so outside the city tends to bring prices down while adding mountain views and elbow room.
Berks County is centrally located. Wernersville is about 20 minutes from Reading, under an hour from Lancaster and Allentown, and roughly an hour and a half from Center City Philadelphia, so no guest faces a long drive. If you’re focused on the Reading area specifically, our guide to wedding venues near Reading, PA covers why couples choose the countryside there.

How Much Do Wedding Venues Cost in Pennsylvania?
Here’s what national data shows from a recent study of 10,000 couples married in 2025 published on The Knot:
- Average total cost of a wedding in Pennsylvania: $36,000
- Average total cost of a wedding in Philadelphia: $40,000
- National average cost of wedding venue: $12,900
- National average cost per guest: $292
- National average cost of wedding with 1 to 50 guests: $17,1004
- National average cost of wedding with 51 to 100 guests: $27,200
- National average cost of wedding with more than 100 guests: $43,300
- Rehearsal dinner cost on average nationwide: $2,800
Two cautions about these numbers. First, a wedding venue’s quoted price and its real price can be very different things. One venue’s fee covers the venue and nothing else, while another includes tables, chairs, linens, a tent, a coordinator, and overnight rooms. Second, averages can be skewed by a small number of very expensive weddings, so many couples spend well below average.

Where to Find Affordable Wedding Venues in PA
The most reliable savings come from a few key decisions:
- Trim the guest list. Guest count is the single biggest cost driver. In The Knot’s data, weddings with 51 to 100 guests averaged about $16,000 less than weddings with more than 100.
- Look just outside the metropolitan areas. Venues an hour from Philadelphia or Pittsburgh often cost less and include more.
- Consider the shoulder months. The Knot found October through December and January through March weddings averaged $33,200, compared with $35,400 for July through September. Fridays, Sundays, and weekdays are often offered at a lower cost at many venues too.
- Consider what’s included. A wedding venue in PA that includes tables, chairs, setup, breakdown, and coordination can cost less in the end than a space you have to fill yourself.
- Factor in lodging. If guests pay for hotel rooms and you pay for shuttles between the hotel and the venue, include those costs in the comparison. A venue with on-site rooms can mean less expense for you.

Why On-Site Lodging at Wedding Venues in PA Makes Sense
At most wedding venues in Pennsylvania, the celebration ends when the shuttle back to the hotel arrives. It works, but couples still need to figure out some logistics. When the wedding party and closest family can stay on-site, everything is a little easier. Getting ready happens down the hall, the rehearsal and the morning-after breakfast happen at the same place, and no one has to drive after the reception.
This matters for many small and midsize weddings, where on-site rooms can host those who matter most to you. It also changes the budget math described above, because shuttles and room blocks can drop out entirely. If a full weekend celebration is what you’re picturing, here’s what a full wedding weekend at a Pennsylvania Bed and Breakfast looks like from Friday check-in to Sunday farewell.

Where The South Mountain Inn Fits: Our Lodging Included Wedding Venue in PA
We sit on seven wooded acres on South Mountain, above Wernersville in Berks County, with long views across the valley. Lucretia and Harry Anthony built the house in the late 1800s, and locals knew it as the Anthony Mansion. Department store founder George Pomeroy bought it in 1903, and his family owned it for more than 30 years. Since 2018, Matt and Kedri Metzger have owned and operated it, and you’ll meet them when you visit. You can read more about the history of the inn on our site.
Our Inn has ten guest rooms, each with a private en-suite bath, sleeping up to 24 people. Everyone staying over gets fresh coffee delivered to their door each morning, followed by a homemade breakfast with vegan and gluten-free options. Ceremonies take place on the lawn with the mountains behind you, or indoors if you’d like something more private. Receptions move to a covered area for dinner and dancing, with seating available on the wraparound porch and around the fire pit. Our packages include tables, chairs, linens, setup and breakdown, planning support, and day-of coordination. We offer three packages:
- The Elopement Package is for the couple plus four guests. This package offers two hours of ceremony space, an officiant, and a guest room for two nights to celebrate your marriage. ($2000)
- Micro Wedding Package includes five hours of venue access, officiant, getting-ready room, guest room for two nights and up to 40 guests. ($5000)
- The Full Wedding Weekend Package includes all ten guest rooms for Friday and Saturday nights, breakfast for overnight guests, a Friday rehearsal, and exclusive use of the property. ($14,750)

You’ll bring in your own caterer, photographer, florist, and other vendors, and we’re happy to share local recommendations. Details are on our wedding packages page, and couples planning something very small can compare our elopement and micro wedding packages side by side.
Your group can also add guided hikes and paddleboarding at Blue Marsh Lake, private yoga, or massages through our experiences and add-ons.
One bride who booked our Full Weekend put it this way: “We filled the inn for the weekend with our wedding party. From the rehearsal dinner on Friday evening to the farewell breakfast on Sunday morning, we enjoyed every moment of downtime with our closest family and friends.”
To be fair about fit, we’re the right venue if your guest list is 100 or under, you want your people close by all weekend, and you prefer a historic house to a banquet hall. If you’re planning a 250-person ballroom reception, one of the larger regions and venue styles above will suit you better.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wedding Venues in PA
How much does a wedding venue cost in Pennsylvania?
The average wedding venue in the US costs $12,900, according to The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study, and the average Pennsylvania wedding costs about $36,000 in total. Venue prices in PA range widely, from a few thousand dollars for a small ceremony package to well over $20,000 for large metro venues. Always compare what’s included, not just the headline price.
Are there wedding venues in Pennsylvania with lodging on site?
Yes. Bed and breakfasts, historic inns, and mountain resorts are the most common Pennsylvania wedding venues with on-site lodging. The South Mountain Inn in Wernersville, for example, includes all ten guest rooms, sleeping up to 24 guests, for two nights in its Full Weekend package.
What are the best wedding venues in PA for small weddings?
For weddings under 100 guests, historic inns, bed and breakfasts, and smaller estates tend to feel the most personal, since the space isn’t built for crowds of 300. Look for venues that offer dedicated elopement or micro wedding packages, which bundle the essentials at a set price.
When is the least expensive time to get married in Pennsylvania?
In The Knot’s national data, weddings from October through March averaged $33,200, compared with $35,400 from July through September. In Pennsylvania, late fall and early spring are both popular options for couples who want lower prices without a snowy forecast. Fridays and Sundays are often cheaper than Saturdays at many venues.
Which part of Pennsylvania is best for a wedding?
Start with where your guests live. If most are coming from Philadelphia, New Jersey, or New York, eastern PA regions like Berks County, Lancaster, the Lehigh Valley, and the Brandywine Valley keep everyone within about a two-hour drive, usually at lower prices than Philadelphia itself. Couples with guests centered farther west tend to look at Pittsburgh and the Laurel Highlands.
