What Is Koziar’s Christmas Village?

Koziar’s Christmas Village is a family-owned holiday attraction at 782 Christmas Village Road in Bernville, PA, in Berks County.

In 1948, William M. Koziar decorated his family farm for his wife and four children. As the display grew, the lights reflected across the farm pond and caught the attention of people driving through the countryside. More decorations followed each year, eventually turning a family Christmas display into one of Pennsylvania’s best-known holiday attractions.

Today, Koziar’s Christmas Village fills the property with illuminated buildings, colorful displays, gift shops, a reflecting lake, and indoor exhibits. Visitors follow lighted, paved pathways throughout the attraction, with 11 indoor buildings offering additional displays, shopping, food, and a large model train display.

The village has been featured nationally, including on the Today Show, the Hallmark Channel, HGTV, and CNN Travel. For the 2026 season, Koziar’s is also adding special touches celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary.

One geographic detail is worth clarifying if you’re planning a Pennsylvania holiday trip. Koziar’s Christmas Village is not in Lancaster County. It’s in Bernville in Berks County, northwest of Reading and roughly an hour from Lancaster.

Tips for Visiting Koziar’s Christmas Village

Visit on a weeknight if you can.
If your schedule is flexible, Monday through Thursday evenings after Thanksgiving are excellent choices. These are Standard Nights rather than Prime Nights, which means lower admission prices and generally fewer people than on December weekends.

Koziar’s specifically warns that Saturdays in December between 5 and 8 p.m. are among its busiest periods, and traffic delays can occur.

Plan for about 60 to 90 minutes
Koziar’s recommends allowing roughly 60 to 90 minutes for the self-guided experience. Your visit may take longer if you stop for snacks, shop for ornaments, visit Santa, or spend plenty of time taking photos. Give yourself some flexibility during busy December weekends, when traffic and admission lines can add time to your evening.

Dress for winter weather
Much of Koziar’s Christmas Village is outdoors, though there are also 11 indoor buildings along the route. Dress warmly and check the forecast before leaving for Bernville. Comfortable shoes or boots are especially useful for an evening spent walking between displays. The village pathways are paved and lit. Koziar’s also describes the attraction as wheelchair- and stroller-friendly, with a limited number of wheelchairs available for guest use.

Don’t skip the classic lake view
One of the most recognizable Koziar’s Christmas Village photos captures the glowing buildings reflected across the lake. That view has been part of the property’s appeal since the earliest days of the family display. Give yourself time to enjoy it rather than rushing straight from one exhibit to another. It’s especially beautiful once darkness has fully settled over the valley.

Warm up with something sweet
You don’t have to make it through a cold Pennsylvania evening without a snack. Food and refreshments are available inside the village, including classic Christmas treats. Think of it as snack territory rather than your dinner destination. A meal before you arrive will make the evening more enjoyable, especially if you’re visiting with children or planning to stay for Santa.

Make a full holiday getaway out of it
Koziar’s is only one reason to visit Berks County during the Christmas season. The region adds holiday light displays, Christmas events, seasonal shopping, train rides, and decorated downtown areas throughout November and December. Pairing the village with another local holiday event makes an easy weekend trip, particularly if you’re coming from Philadelphia, Lancaster, or elsewhere in Pennsylvania.
