Don’t miss the AL. Ringling Brewing Co. – a favorite Baraboo brewery! The brewery is adjacent to the 1906 mansion of one of the famed Ringling Bros., which honors the Ringling Bros.’ circus heritage. Here are some highlights:

  1. Visitors love the quirky decor, including tables made from the floorboards of the bowling alley in the basement.
  2. Circus paraphernalia decorates the unique Baraboo brewery, and an authentic calliope plays following a mansion tour.
  3. During the mansion restoration, a wooden box was found under the floorboards. A folded piece of paper in the box contained a beer recipe, which became “The Ringling Family Original” or the signature beer of the AL. Ringling Brewing Co.
  4. This Baraboo brewery has 19 beers on tap, including creative beers such as “Cookies and Cream Stout” and “Pie Car Raspberry Rhubarb Sour”.
  5. The brewery has a diverse food menu, including brewery favorites like burgers and pretzels, but the real highlight is the shrimp empanadas.
  6. Next to the AL. Ringling Brewery, visitors can take tours of the eldest Ringling brother’s opulent 1906 mansion. The red stone mansion was the home of the greatest showman from 1906 until his death, and was the most spacious and beautiful home in Sauk County.
  7. Daily tours of AL. Ringling Mansion happen on the hour, every hour, from 11 am until 3 pm.
  8. All ticket proceeds benefit the continued restoration of the mansion. Haunted evening tours are available by appointment only.
  9. The Baraboo Brewery aims to be the heart of the community. Monthly events support local non-profits.
  10. Enjoy live entertainment featuring local musicians, burlesque shows, and more.

After visiting the Ringling Baraboo brewery and Al Ringling’s mansion, continue your circus-themed visit with a stay in Charles Ringling’s former residence.  The 1901 estate was home to two Ringling brothers and has been lovingly restored to reflect the rich history of the Greatest Showmen. The intricately adorned living areas feature original woodwork, gorgeous stained glass, and artifacts about circus life.

Each guest room offers a unique glimpse into the Ringling Bros.’ lives and experiences and their contributions to Baraboo and Sauk County. Each of our six rooms is named for a Ringling Bros. circus couple. The Fred and Ella room is dedicated to the romance of a couple who performed with the circus from 1903 to 1945. This beautiful room has a queen-sized bed, large windows, a fireplace, and a private bathroom with the original tile work. The Fred and Ella room has an adjoining door to the Emmett and Eva room, perfect for groups traveling together.
